Worry and Guilt

Updated: May 25, 2021

his month’s feature poem is a mantra against the toxic effects of using worry and guilt as a filter for life. Worry and guilt are not productive or necessary, yet it is so easy to choose these censors to limit ourselves. When we worry or feel guilty, we live in the world of “shoulds” and self-judgement. When we take the perspective of our soul, we simply live from our own truth and intentions and allow everyone else to do the same.

Worry & Guilt

Worry and guilt

Worry and guilt

Absolutely everything has worry or guilt

Worry for the bad

Guilt for the good

Absolutely everything contains a big should

I should do this,

I shouldn’t do that

I beat myself up with a big mental bat

Swing batter, batter, batter

Swing batter, batter, batter

Kill that parasite

Swing batter, batter, batter

Swing batter, batter, batter

Free me from this blight

I own it for me,

But not for you

I’m not responsible at all for what you feel or do

Your journey is yours

My journey is mine

I’ll meet you just the same at the end of time

Worry and guilt

Worry and guilt

God does not indulge in these so I QUIT!

The Box is this month's feature poem. It is full of seeming opposites. It reflects the duality in which we live and challenges us to question whether our actions are really taking us where we want to
